Meridian Aikido

Our Senior Sensei is Tony Ecclestone, Yondan (4th degree black belt). Tony is graded in ki aikido, but has also practiced Aikikai and Tomiki styles, as well as Shotokan karate. Starting as a student of the club in the early 1980s, Tony took over when the previous teacher retired in 1990.

Tony teaches predominantly at our Greenwich dojo, and runs courses in Barford, Oxfordshire

Nathan Lobb. Nathan started training under Sensei Ecclestone in 1996 at Meridian Aikido Greenwich. "However many times we tried to get rid of him he always seemed to come back". He gained his Teaching award in 2002 and his Nidan (2nd degree black belt) in 2006.

Chris Cousins, Shodan (1st degree black belt). All round good egg . Chris has trained in many different styles of aikido, as he was born in a circus and to this day hasn't stopped moving. This makes him good if you need a tent erecting in a hurry.

Huw Woodman's aikido experience spans two centuries (well, he began training in 1999!). He started training with Sensei Ecclestone in 2000, when the previous instructor retired. Huw was awarded his Instructors certificate in 2004 and attained his 1st degree black belt in July 2005. He is currently Sensei at the new Meridian Croydon dojo, which opened in March 2007 (Monday 7.30pm during term time ? everyone welcome!!).
